What is this "Jelly"?
Are you a creative professional working from home? Tired of talking to your cat/dog/walls/houseplant to break the silence?
Jelly is an every-so-often casual coworking session. Anyone is welcome to come, bring a laptop, and work alongside other creative, fun people. Hope to see you there! See workatjelly.com and this blog post for more background. Email if you want to start your own!
Where is it being held?
Okay, so maybe metro Detroit is more accurate. Right now the focus is on the northern suburbs, namely the OC.
We meet every Thursday afternoon at various WiFi enabled coffee shops in the area, barring any conflicts. Brahm will be there after lunch (arriving between 1:30-2 PM) with a Jelly speech bubble sign on the table. Please contact him so he knows to look for you.
NEXT JELLY: August 14 - Panera Bread in Rochester Hills on Adams south of M-59.
Note: For future events, please consult the Rochester Area Coworking Meetup.com page.
Potential future locations (mostly in Rochester/Rochester Hills):
- Brahm's house in Rochester Hills
- Biggby Coffee in Rochester Hills (zip 48309. free WiFi)
- Biggby Coffee in Auburn Hills (zip 48326. free WiFi)
- The Hills Bar and Grille (free WiFi. Need to determine the feasibility of working from here)
- Rochester Mills Beer Co (free WiFi) Update (2008.02.07): It was fairly empty at about 2 PM. The WiFi was a little weak at the north side of the restaurant. Though smoke did drift from bar area a little, it wasn't awful. It turned out to be more expensive than the coffee shop since I bought an ice tea and an appetizer (and left a tip!). The dinner crowd was just starting to arrive around 4:30 PM.
- Panera Bread in Rochester Hills at Adams & M-59 (free WiFi)
- Goldfish Tea in Royal Oak (free WiFi. Good atmosphere.) Update (2008.05.01): Delicious tea. However, WiFi dropped out semi-frequently and requires a new registration code every 2 hours. Cell phone reception was almost non-existent in the seating area in the back.
- Caribou Coffee in Rochester Hills (on Walton, west of Adams - NOT the one just west of Livernois).
- Bean & Leaf Cafe in Royal Oak (free WiFi).
- CoffeeTime Cafe (links to a horrid myspace page, apologies) Free WiFi, tons of space, comfy atmosphere. I'd love to see something over on this side of town.
